Sharp finished fourth in Sunday’s feature race after recovering from an incident with Frenchman Theophile Nael, while Wharton crossed the line inside the points before a five-second penalty for weaving during the safety car restart dropped him to 11th.
It capped a weekend of strong pace but mixed reward for the Australian and Kiwi pair, who both scored in Saturday’s sprint race before Sunday’s feature slipped away from them in different ways.
Sharp started the feature from third and dropped to fourth on the opening lap before settling into a tyre management phase.
The New Zealander then began to move forward as the race progressed and looked on course to fight for a podium before the clash with Nael cost him several places.
Nael later received a 10-second penalty for the incident, promoting Sharp back to fourth in the final classification.
“It was a really strong race,” Sharp said.

“I dropped to fourth at the start but was just saving tyres and playing the long game. Around half race distance the pace was still really good and the guys in front started to drop, so I started pushing and began making my way through.
“I went for the move on third, got it done, but then he (Nael) went off and cut the track and came back on, and unfortunately pushed me off.

“We lost six or seven positions in a couple of corners, which is a real shame, I think we were definitely going to be on the podium today, we could even have fought for the win, we had the speed.
“It’s been a really good weekend, strong qualifying, strong pace and it’s just a shame not to get the result the team deserved because I genuinely think we had it.
“That’s how it goes sometimes. Looking forward to resetting and going again at Spa.”
Wharton also looked set to add to his points tally in the feature after running in the top 10, only for his post-race penalty to leave him outside the scorers.
The Australian had earlier finished 10th in the sprint after running as high as third before a technical issue hurt his progress.
“Overall a weekend of bad luck, but with the pace to be in the top three in both races,” Wharton said.
“We come away with a lot of confidence for the next weekends, but unfortunately nothing to show for it today and sorry to the team for that.
“Yesterday was out of our control, but today we didn’t maximise what we had. On to Spa.”
Both drivers had entered the races with Prema’s strongest qualifying platform of the season, with Sharp third for the feature and Wharton ninth, which gave him fourth on the sprint grid.
Wharton made the most of that early on Saturday, moving into the podium places before dropping back, while Sharp came from 10th to eighth to add more points to his tally.
Matteo De Palo claimed his maiden F3 victory in Sunday’s feature race, with Ernesto Rivera second and Maciej Gladysz third after penalties were applied.
Ugo Ugochukwu strengthened his championship lead over Freddie Slater across the weekend, winning the sprint race before finishing third in the feature.
Wharton is now 15th in the drivers’ championship on 19 points, while Sharp has moved up to 17th on 17 points.
The Formula 3 season continues at Spa from July 17-19.
